Here are some answers to questions you may have!
|
What do I do when I arrive for my first shift?
First, you should go downstairs and change into your uniform. Then you should find a Student Supervisor (grey or black polo) and they will give you your next instructions!
When should I clock in?
You should not clock in until a Student Supervisor (grey or black polo) tells you to. Otherwise, you may have to fix your timecard later!
When do I get to eat my free meal?
There are assigned meal times to avoid confusion. They are always during or before a shift though! A Student Supervisor (grey or black polo) will release you to eat at the designated time for your shift.
Do I need to come early if my meal is before my shift?
Nope! Meal times are included within the shift times you received at orientation/ what is shown on the scheduling page!
If I do not want to eat my meal, can I just come late?
No! If you do this, you are recorded as late. If you do not want to eat then you still must show up on time; you will just clock in and start working instead of eating.
What if I do not want to eat at the assigned time, can I just eat later/earlier?
Nope! In order to make things fair to everyone, we schedule breaks at good times for the operation. If you need an altered meal time for a documentable reason, you must get this approved by the Student HR Manager.
When will I get my first paycheck?
This depends on your start date, email the Student HR Manager for a specific date!
What's OnTrack and what do I use it for?
OnTrack is an online student portal. It will give you the following information: your currently scheduled shifts, sub-requests, and demerits. Points are not tallied on this website. If you want to know your point total, please email the Student HR Manager.
I'm having academic issues and need to change my schedule, is that possible?
Absolutely. If you already have shifts in mind, you can email the Student HR Manager about switching your shifts. You may also go into Office Hours for the Student HR Manager for a more personalized schedule. Our Student Management Team can even sit down with you to create a Study Schedule that will work with your new work schedule so that you may better succeed here at Purdue as a student.
I want to leave my job at Ford, what should I do?
While we will be sad to see you leave, the process is fairly easy. You will need to fill out a two weeks' notice form that you can get from the Student HR Manager. Once it is completed, a "two weeks'" begins. You then have to attend all your shifts for the next two weeks and then your time is done. You will then be removed from the system in good standings.
Can I not work a two weeks'?
Unfortunately, if you decide to do that it is considered a "quit without notice" or "job abandonment". This means leaving Ford in "poor standings" and can affect future employment.
