Some Basic Vocabulary for Working at Ford:
Filling the Line: Putting food out to be served
Wiping the Line: Cleaning the counter between the food and customers with Oasis 146 (Sanitizer) from a BUCKET. (DO NOT SPRAY CHEMICALS AROUND FOOD).
Yak Bucket: 5 gallon bucket we use to put food waste into so that we can send it to a company that turns our leftovers into biofuel!
OTG: On-the-Go is one of our many fabulous stations which you can learn about below!

Boiler Q
Boiler Q, formerly Legal Grease, is our newly updated station filled with BBQ options. In this station there are numerous tasks to which you could be assigned. Filling and cleaning the line, operating fryers, and cooking on the flat tops or grill are all exciting tasks within this station. When being assigned you may be told to go to "Legal". This is one of our busiest stations, so look forward to an eventful shift that will go by fast!
Sugar Hill
Sugar Hill is our dessert station here at Ford. Supervisors will frequently call this station "sugar" when assigning you for the shift. When working in this station, your main concern is seeing that the line is full, and that customers do not have to wait for their desserts! One of the more fun tasks is making several dozen cookies at once in the oven. A laid back station that gets busy rushes, this is a great place to be assigned if you like to work solo!
Parmesan & Tomato
Parmesan & Tomato is a station unique to Ford. Our brick pizza oven is the only one like it among Residential Dining. Supervisors will often call this station simply "pizza" when assigning students. This station offers extremely diverse fun jobs like: sheeting dough, building pizzas, working the pizza oven, and cutting the pizzas. This station offers a fast-paced night that is perfect if you like to work with others.
Thyme Square
Basil & Thyme is our salad bar here at Ford, the longest in Residential Dining at over 50ft long! When assigning students, supervisors will often call this station "salad". This station is simple in nature, with your main concerns being stocking the line and cleaning the line. Perfect for the person just starting out, wanting a laid back night, or maybe you just love salad!
Global Market
Global Market is our station that boasts cross-cultural food dishes. Tasks in this station include cooking on the woks, operating fryers and combi oven, serving soup, and filling the lines. Supervisors will frequently call this station "international" when assigning you for the shift. This station is perfect for the person looking to work on their cooking skills, or if you like working with other people!
Potato Potato
Potato Potato, often called Potato, is Ford's heartland meal area. Food here is sure to be high in carbohydrates! Tasks here include operating fryers, combi ovens, steamers, and our carving station for when we cut food for customers to order. When working in this station, expect to be in (near) constant communication with our full-time staff. One of our most popular stations, Potato will be sure to give you a busy night!
Salami & Swiss
Salami & Swiss is Ford's very own deli! When supervisors assign students, they will often just refer to the station as "deli". This station's tasks include: filling the line, cleaning the line, prepping more pans of food, and cleaning the panini presses. A perfect station for those looking for a laid back night!
Beverage
Working beverage is an involved station assignment at Ford. When working beverage, you are responsible for stocking and cleaning the 4 beverage stations, waffle bar, cereal bar, and syrup room downstairs. You will also need to make coffee's and tea's throughout the shift. This assignment is perfect for people who like to move!
Dish
Working in the dish room is an involved assignment that has tons of different jobs within it. You can: work on the slop line, load the dish machine, unload the dish machine, pots & pans, or running clean dishes to the kitchen to put away. This assignment is perfect for those who want to have fun and listen to music while they work. Supervisors will play music over the speaker, so while messy, dish is always a good time!
On-the-Go
Ford is one of 3 dining courts on campus with an On-the-Go area. Often referred to as OTG, this stations tasks include stocking the items, prepping boxed meals, swiping cards, and cleaning the OTG area. This station is perfect for people that enjoy more customer interaction and like a more retail feel!
